Experience an exciting blue water passage from Málaga to the Canary Islands – a route that combines real offshore sailing, navigation along the Moroccan coast and relaxed island hopping. With our large and fast Hanse 575 GALINI, sailing pleasure is guaranteed! We use the northeast trade winds, plan the route according to the weather, experience night sailing on the Atlantic and slow down from everyday life. After the crossing, there is plenty of time to enjoy the Canary Islands with island hopping, swimming, snorkelling and excursions on land.
At the crew’s request, there is the possibility of making a detour to Gibraltar or Tangier in Morocco after leaving Málaga. The lively port city at the gateway to Africa impresses with its historical medina, colourful markets and a unique mix of Arabic, French and Spanish culture. Tangier is only about 120 nautical miles from Málaga, offers modern marinas and is an exciting starting point for shore excursions, trips or simply a touch of Oriental feeling before the Atlantic passage. From here it continues through the Strait of Gibraltar and out into the Atlantic.
We decide our stops in harbours and anchorages together. We are a crew that plans the route based on preferences, wind and weather.
- – MálagaAndalusian port city with flair and ideal crew change

- – Gran CanariaLively island and destination port
Our adventure begins in Málaga, where we cast off after boarding and a thorough safety briefing. After provisioning and final preparations, there is the opportunity to first cross over to Tangier and enjoy the oriental atmosphere there. Then we set sail through the famous Strait of Gibraltar – here we can expect heavy ship traffic and strong currents. Once we leave the traffic separation scheme, we set course for the open Atlantic. We spend the next days at sea, making use of the steady northeast trade winds and experiencing shipboard routine, navigation and night watches. After about 650 NM we reach Lanzarote, the easternmost of the Canary Islands. Here we enjoy a swimming stop, explore the volcanic landscape or relax on the beaches. We continue to Fuerteventura, where we have time for shore leave, swimming and excursions. Our final leg takes us to Gran Canaria – on the way a swimming stop in a secluded bay is possible before we enter Las Palmas and let the passage fade out with Canarian zest for life.
For anyone collecting miles for their next sailing licence: as we cross the open sea on this passage, plenty of nautical miles go into the logbook. Of course, at the end of the trip we issue you an official mileage certificate.
Our Galini travels the world – and you can be part of it! With us you are not an anonymous guest on a standard route, but part of a real crew that discovers new horizons together. We are not a classic charter company that runs the same tour every week. Instead, we sail together, experience the real boat life and embrace the adventure that the sea holds for us.
Step aboard a well-equipped, lovingly maintained boat and enjoy the special: with us there is nothing off the shelf. Every trip is unique – sometimes spontaneous, sometimes planned, always full of surprises. Unplanned experiences are just as much a part of it as relaxing days on deck.
Do you want more than just sailing along? We take care of the on‑board technology together, and you can lend a hand yourself if you like. You can turn it from a holiday trip into a real experience on a long‑distance yacht and become part of life at sea.
Our trips combine holiday, experience, mindfulness and real boat life. Become part of our crew and experience a special time on Galini – authentic, communal and full of adventurous spirit.
In late autumn the best travel time for this Atlantic crossing begins. The route offers an exciting mix of coastal sailing, blue water sailing and island hopping. We first sail along the Moroccan coast, with a stopover in Tangier possible. Along the way there is a high probability of spotting dolphins and whales. The combination of culture, historical sites, challenging navigation and the vastness of the Atlantic makes this section one of the most fascinating sailing areas of all.
In November the northeast trade winds blow mostly steadily with 3–5 Bft. (10–20 knots). Daytime temperatures are 20–25 °C, nighttime 15–20 °C. The water is a pleasant 20–23 °C for swimming. It is predominantly dry, occasional rain showers are possible. The Atlantic shows itself with long swell (1–2 m) and usually offers good visibility as well as clear nights for celestial navigation.
Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, large and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and will cross the Atlantic in April/May.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper’s cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multi media, generator 220 V / 7 KW, (230 V in all cabins), washing machine, air fryer and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, a watermaker, hydraulic swim platform and a tender with outboard motor. An abundance of safety and navigation equipment and much more – everything you need to be self-sufficient without having to call at a supply port. A yacht that meets the highest standards for safety, design and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Vovo Ocean Racers and is the fastest yacht in her class. The joy of sailing is guaranteed!

What duties does the crew have?
Anyone can help with sailing if they wish, perhaps even steer the boat, or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery and the day. In addition, everyone is jointly responsible for the crew’s meals. This means everyone takes turns preparing breakfast or handling dinner. Usually the hobby chefs quickly stand out on board, and those who are less into culinary arts simply hold back and do the washing up. When mooring and unmooring, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after instruction from the skipper. The boat must be kept clean by the crew members during the trip. However, the final cleaning is done by the marina staff.
What does the ship’s kitty actually mean?
All crew members (except the skipper) pay a mutually agreed amount into the ship’s kitty. This kitty covers all common expenses incurred during the trip (e.g., diesel, harbour fees, deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service package for the provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in harbour, etc.). According to old seafaring custom, the skipper is provided with meals by the crew during the trip.
What does cabin charter mean?
Cabin charter is the best opportunity for anyone who wants to get to know the sailing life. Prior knowledge or own sailing experience is not necessary. But perhaps you have already gained sailing experience, completed sailing training and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the chance to try yourself out and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the trip, and your wishes will be taken into account, subject to safety and weather. On such a trip you meet like-minded people, can make new pleasant acquaintances and have an experienced skipper at your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The bunks are distributed by the skipper taking into account crew preferences. Entire cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. Payment is per person and you don’t have to worry about anything else.
We want to make sailing more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On our GALINI we test innovative products to combine a great sailing experience with the smallest possible ecological footprint. Our small team of experienced skippers looks forward to experiencing real sailing adventures with you. Our base is on Poros, Greece – from there we explore the most beautiful sailing areas in the world.
