We fell in love with the island!
It is a cosmopolitan, picturesque island with a vibrant nightlife, great beaches and many small attractions.
Poros, also known as the "Bosphorus of the Saronic Gulf", actually consists of two islands, which in ancient times were called Sphería and Kalávria. During the last eruption of the volcano Méthana on the nearby Greek mainland, the morphology of the area changed greatly, bringing the islands closer. They are now connected by a bridge over a narrow channel. Spheria is located at the crater of the volcano, where the beautiful town of Poros unfolds.
The historic, colorful, neoclassical buildings give the island an aura of incomparable beauty. Blessed with the finest nature, from green pine forests to idyllic beaches, Poros is definitely a wonderful island.
Why charter from Poros? It's just a little more travel time. For this you are away from the crowded marinas of Athens. Shopping at the supermarket is relaxed and the prices are fair. The cruise already starts with a highlight. The boat handover is personal and not mass handling. Deceleration in nice cafes and bars directly around the boat - and also the restaurants immediately set the level for the next days up. Before the sun sets, there is also a short trip to the beach for a swim. Yes, and in the high season you are already ahead of the other charter boats by at least half a day trip.
Although we have spent so much time here, the island always gives us a new smile
Life on the island
The island combines a quiet landscape with lively night spots. The Main village has pretty alleys, traditional houses with flowering gardens and a view of the sea before the pretty alleys lead up. In the winding streets you will find many small souvenir stores, some galleries and of course typical Greek taverns.
A popular sight is the former Russian naval base, which is considered a monument due to its architectural peculiarity. At the same time, it is considered the namesake of the beach section Russian Bay.
The beaches of Poros
Although Poros is a rather smaller island, there are many beaches, most of which are located on the south coast and are within walking distance from the main port. One of these beaches is the sandy beach Kanali, where you can find a good selection of fishing taverns, with great views. Monastiri is another sandy beach located in the east of the island, ideal for water sports and spearfishing. In the northern part of the island there is a more quiet sand and pebble beach called Bagionia. Mikro Neorio is another beautiful, catered beach surrounded by pine trees. Limanaki-tis-Agapis, which means Bay of Love, is a romantic beach with crystal clear green-blue waters surrounded by pine trees. Another beautiful place is the beach of Lemonodasos, which means lemon forest. The sandy beach is surrounded by countless lemon trees and some water mills.
How to reach the island
Poros can be reached from several locations. Firstly, ferries are offered from Piraeus (port of Athens) to Aegina, Poros and Hydra - The trip takes one hour. From Athens airport Poros is easily accessible by car.
