Discover the fascination of the Greek islands on our special shared sailing trip from Zakynthos to Poros (Attica, near Athens) in August. From the emerald pearl of the Ionian Sea to the picturesque home port of our Galini in the Saronic Gulf, varied sailing stages, genuine boat life and Mediterranean adventures await you. During this voyage you will gather many nautical miles, navigate, experience dreamy coves and enjoy the diversity between Ionian island romance and the historic coastline of the Peloponnese.
Immerse yourself in the crystal-clear, turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, experience the spectacular passage through the Corinth Canal, enjoy sunsets at sea and let the magic of the Greek islands enchant you. We sail together, learn from each other and enjoy the freedom on the water.
Galini, our Hanse 575, is a true bluewater yacht – built for living and travelling on the sea. We travel with warm-hearted people, discover the world together and experience real boat life: sun, wind, salt water, small adventures and the feeling of truly discovering something as a crew. Galini is at home on the sea and usually far from her home port on Poros. You will be part of life on board. Not everything will always go according to plan – sometimes something breaks or the weather changes our course – but that is exactly what makes it authentic. We are also very happy to show you the technical systems on board, and you can take part in all activities – navigating, steering, cooking, right through to technical tasks. Not a cruise, but a lived community, real experiences and the magic of the sea.
The Greek west coast and the Gulf of Corinth offer perfect conditions for an unforgettable sailing trip in August. From the lively island of Zakynthos, we head along the Ionian coast of the Peloponnese into the Gulf of Patras, under the imposing Rio-Antirrio Bridge and through the 60-nautical-mile-long Gulf of Corinth – an exciting cruising ground with its own challenges, framed by mountains and rich in history, from ancient sites to the Oracle of Delphi. The highlight of the navigation is the spectacular transit of the legendary Corinth Canal – 6.3 kilometres between steeply rising rock walls into the Saronic Gulf. The stages are varied – from sheltered coves to open sea passages to the canal transit. Depending on the weather and crew, extensive swimming stops, snorkelling in secluded coves and shore trips to picturesque harbour towns are possible. Getting there is straightforward: Zakynthos Airport is only 5 km from the marina and is served by direct flights from many European cities in summer. From the destination port of Poros, you can take a ferry quickly to Piraeus and from there reach Athens International Airport in about an hour.

Our adventure begins on Zakynthos, where after boarding and a thorough safety briefing we cast off. The first miles take us along the impressive west coast of Zakynthos with its dramatic steep cliffs. From there we sail further through the Ionian island world – depending on wind and weather with stops on green shores and in hidden anchorages. Through the Gulf of Patras we pass the imposing Rio-Antirrio Bridge and continue through the Gulf of Corinth, flanked by the mountains of the Peloponnese and the mainland. The navigation highlight is the transit of the legendary Corinth Canal – an unforgettable experience between steeply rising rock walls. Once in the Saronic Gulf, we enjoy the final stages with island hopping and crystal-clear water before reaching our home port of Poros – a beautiful conclusion to a special voyage.

Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, large and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and crosses the Atlantic in April/May.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multi-media, generator 220V/7KW (230V in all cabins), washing machine, bread maker and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, watermaker, hydraulic bathing platform and a tender with outboard motor. An abundance of safety and navigation equipment and much more – everything required to be self-sufficient without needing to call at a supply port. A yacht that meets the highest demands for safety, design and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Vovo Ocean Racers and is the fastest yacht in her class. Enjoyment of sailing is guaranteed!
Of course, unforeseen things always happen on a boat. Minor repairs and breakdowns are part of everyday sailing. That is also part of sailing life. GALINI is very well equipped with tools and spare parts. We are also happy to show you how to lend a hand yourself if you wish.

In August we can expect summer temperatures (air: approx. 28–34°C, water: approx. 26°C). In the Ionian Sea the winds are usually moderate from the northwest at 2–5 Bft., ideal for leisurely sailing with sporty sections. In the Gulf of Corinth and the Saronic Gulf the Meltemi can provide fresh wind. Calms are possible in the morning hours, while a reliable thermal breeze often builds up in the afternoon. Rain is extremely rare in August – bright blue skies are almost guaranteed.
Everyone can, if they wish, help with sailing, take the helm occasionally or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. In addition, everyone is jointly responsible for the crew's sustenance. This means that each person takes turns preparing breakfast or looking after dinner. Usually the hobby chefs on board quickly emerge, and those less interested in cooking simply stand back and do the washing-up. When docking and undocking, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after instruction from the skipper. The boat must be kept clean by the crew members during the trip. The final cleaning, however, is done by the marina staff.
All crew members (except the skipper) pay a jointly agreed amount into the crew kitty. From this fund all common costs incurred during the trip are covered (e.g. diesel, harbour fees, deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service package for the provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in harbour, etc.). In accordance with old seafaring tradition, the skipper's meals are covered by the crew during the trip.
Berth charter is the best option for anyone wanting to get to know sailing life. Previous knowledge or own sailing experience is not necessary. Perhaps you already have some sailing experience, have completed sailing training and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try things out yourself and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the trip and their wishes will be taken into account, subject to safety and weather. On such a trip you meet like-minded people, can make nice new acquaintances and have an experienced skipper at your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The berths are allocated by the skipper taking crew wishes into account. Whole cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. Payment is per person and you don't have to worry about anything else.
We want to make sailing more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On our GALINI we test innovative products to combine a great sailing experience with the smallest possible ecological footprint. Our small team of experienced skippers looks forward to experiencing real sailing adventures together with you. Our base is on Poros, Greece – from there we explore the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world.
Our Galini sails the world – and you can join us! With us you are not an anonymous guest on a standard route, but part of a real crew that discovers new horizons together. We are not a classic charter company that runs the same tour every week. Instead, we sail together, experience real boat life and embrace the adventure that the sea holds for us.
