With our large and fast Hanse 575 GALINI we sail across the North Atlantic. We follow the classic northern route, let the weather guide us and call at legendary stops such as Bermuda, the Azores and Lisbon before reaching the destination Málaga. You can expect challenging navigation, night sailing, team spirit and the intensive onboard life of an experienced Atlantic crew.
We are currently in the planning phase and putting together a crew that harmonises not only in sailing but also personally. It is important to us that the group on board really fits together – which is why we conduct a personal conversation with all interested parties.
Our GALINI has already successfully taken part in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) and meets all safety requirements of this sailing rally. Thus, she is equipped and tested for the Atlantic crossing to the highest international standards.
Galini, our Hanse 575, is a true bluewater yacht – built for life and travel on the sea. We travel with warm-hearted people, discover the world together and experience real boat life: sun, wind, salt water, small adventures and the feeling of discovering something together as a crew. Galini is at home on the sea and most of the time far from the home port on Poros. You will be part of life on board. Things will not always go according to plan – sometimes something breaks or the weather changes our course – but that is exactly what makes it authentic. We also gladly show you the technology on board, and you can take part in all activities – navigating, steering, cooking, right up to the technical side. No cruise, but a lived community, real experiences and the magic of the sea.
In April, the conditions for North Atlantic passages are ideal: The route takes us from St. Maarten northwards to Bermuda; there is the opportunity for a stopover, shore leave and technical check. Afterwards, we set a direct course for the Azores – true bluewater sailing on long legs, with navigation, night watches and shared onboard routine. After provisioning and a land excursion on the Azores, the next big jump follows to Lisbon, before the final leg along the coast to Málaga. The northern route is known for fresh westerly and northwesterly winds, ocean fauna and a unique sense of vastness.
Our adventure begins in April on St. Maarten. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing and joint provisioning, we use the time to get to know the crew and prepare the boat. Once everything is ready, we set sail towards Bermuda. Depending on the weather and crew, we make a stopover in Hamilton – perfect for fresh supplies, shore leave and a technical check. Then we set course for the Azores, navigate through changing winds, work in watch systems, trim sails, observe the weather, cook together and grow together as a crew. If possible, we enjoy shore leave and European culture on the Azores as well as later in Lisbon. The journey ends after the final leg at the Costa del Sol in the port of Málaga.

Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, large and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and will cross the Atlantic in April/May.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), Multi Media, Generator 220 V / 7 KW, (230 V in all cabins) Washing machine, Air fryer and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, a watermaker, hydraulic bathing platform and a tender with outboard motor. An abundance of safety and navigation equipment and much more, everything needed to be self-sufficient without having to call at a supply port. A yacht that meets the highest requirements for safety, design and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Volvo Ocean Racers and is the fastest yacht in its class. Fun while sailing is guaranteed!
In April we can expect ideal conditions on the classic northern route:
Wind: Frequently from west to northwest, 4–6 Bft. (15–25 knots)
Air temperature: 18–25 °C during the day, cool at night
Water temperature: 18–23 °C
Atlantic: Long, gentle swell (1–3 m)
Weather: Mostly dry and clear, rain showers are rare and short
Everyone can help with sailing if they want, even steer the boat occasionally or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. In addition, everyone is jointly responsible for the crew's wellbeing. This means that everyone takes turns preparing breakfast or looking after dinner. Usually the hobby cooks on board quickly become apparent, and those who are not so keen on culinary arts simply stand back and do the washing up. When mooring and casting off, everyone usually lends a hand according to their abilities and after instruction by the skipper. The boat must be kept clean by the crew members during the trip. The final cleaning is done by the marina staff.
All crew members (except the skipper) pay a jointly agreed amount into the crew kitty. From this kitty, all common costs incurred during the trip (e.g. diesel, harbour fees, deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service package for the provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in harbour, etc.) are covered. According to old seafaring tradition, the skipper is fed by the crew during the trip.
Berth charter is the best option for everyone who wants to get to know the sailing life. Previous knowledge or own sailing experience is not necessary. But perhaps you have already gained sailing experience, done a sailing course and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try yourself and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the trip and their wishes will be taken into account, subject to safety and weather. On such a trip you meet like-minded people, can make new nice acquaintances and have an experienced skipper at your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The berths are distributed by the skipper taking into account crew wishes. Whole cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. You pay per person and you don't have to worry about anything else.
We want to make sailing more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On our GALINI we test innovative products to combine a great sailing experience with the smallest possible ecological footprint. Our small team of experienced skippers looks forward to experiencing real sailing adventure with you together. Our base is on Poros, Greece – from there we explore the most beautiful sailing areas in the world.
