With our large and fast Hanse 575 GALINI we sail across the North Atlantic. We follow the classic northern route, let the weather guide us and call at legendary stops such as Bermuda, the Azores and Lisbon before reaching our destination Málaga. Demanding navigation, night watches, teamwork and the intensive on-board life of an experienced Atlantic crew await you.
We are currently in the planning phase and are putting together a crew that harmonises not only in sailing terms but also on a personal level. It is important to us that the group on board really fits together – which is why we conduct a personal interview with all interested parties.
Our GALINI has already successfully taken part in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) and meets all safety requirements of this sailing rally. This means she is equipped and certified for the Atlantic crossing to the highest international standards.
Galini, our Hanse 575, is a true bluewater vessel – built for life and travel at sea. We travel with warm-hearted people, discover the world together and experience real boatlife: sun, wind, salt water, small adventures and the feeling of truly discovering something together as a crew. Galini is at home on the sea and usually far away from her home port of Poros. You will become part of life on board. Not everything will always go according to plan – sometimes something breaks or the weather changes our course – but that is exactly what makes it real. We are also very happy to show you the on-board technology, and you can be involved in all activities – navigating, steering, cooking right through to the technical side. This is not a cruise, but lived-in community, genuine experiences and the magic of the sea.
In April the conditions for North Atlantic passages are ideal: The route takes us from St. Maarten northwards to Bermuda; here there is an opportunity for a stopover, shore leave and a technical check. Then we set a direct course for the Azores – genuine bluewater sailing on long legs, with navigation, night watches and shared on-board routine. After provisioning and a shore excursion on the Azores, the next big leap to Lisbon follows, before the final leg along the coast to Málaga. The northern route is known for fresh westerly and north-westerly winds, ocean fauna and a unique sense of vastness.
Our adventure begins in April in St. Maarten. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing and joint provisioning, we use the time to get to know the crew and prepare the boat. Once everything is ready, we set sail for Bermuda. Depending on the weather and crew, we make a stopover in Hamilton – perfect for fresh supplies, shore excursions and a technical check. Then we set course for the Azores, navigating through changing winds, working in a watch system, trimming sails, monitoring the weather, cooking together and growing as a crew. Weather permitting, we enjoy shore excursions and European culture on the Azores and later in Lisbon. The journey ends after the final leg on the Costa del Sol in the port of Málaga.

Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, large and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and crosses the Atlantic in April/May.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multi-media, generator 220 V / 7 kW, (230 V in all cabins), washing machine, air fryer and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, a watermaker, hydraulic bathing platform and a tender with outboard motor. An abundance of safety and navigation equipment and much more – everything needed to be self-sufficient without having to call at a supply port. A yacht that meets the highest requirements for safety, design and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Volvo Ocean Racers and is the fastest yacht in its class. Enjoyment of sailing is guaranteed!
In April we can expect ideal conditions on the classic northern route:
Wind: Often from west to north-west, 4–6 Bft. (15–25 knots)
Air temperature: 18–25°C during the day, cool at night
Water temperature: 18–23°C
Atlantic: Long, easy swell (1–3 m)
Weather: Mostly dry and clear, rain showers are rare and brief
Everyone can help with sailing if they wish, even take the helm for a while or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. In addition, everyone is jointly responsible for the crew's meals. This means that everyone takes turns preparing breakfast or looking after the evening meal. Usually the hobby chefs on board quickly become apparent, and those less keen on cooking simply hold back and do the washing up. During berthing and unberthing, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after instruction from the skipper. The boat is to be kept clean by the crew members during the passage. However, the final cleaning is done by the marina staff.
All crew members (except the skipper) pay a jointly agreed amount into the kitty. This fund covers all joint costs incurred during the passage (e.g. diesel, harbour fees, deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service pack for the provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in port, etc.). The skipper is provided with meals by the crew during the passage, in accordance with old seafaring tradition.
Berth charter is the best option for anyone who wants to get to know the sailing life. Prior knowledge or personal sailing experience is not necessary. But perhaps you already have some sailing experience, have completed sailing training and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try things out for yourself and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the passage and their wishes will be taken into account, subject to safety and weather. On such a passage you meet like-minded people, can make new friendly acquaintances and have an experienced skipper at your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The berths are allocated by the skipper, taking crew wishes into account. Whole cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. Payment is per person and you do not have to worry about anything else.
We want to make sailing more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On board our GALINI we are testing innovative products to combine a great sailing experience with the smallest possible ecological footprint. Our small team of experienced skippers looks forward to experiencing real sailing adventures with you together. Our base is on Poros, Greece – from there we explore the most beautiful sailing areas in the world.
