From our home port we head south to the most beautiful Greek islands: Hydra, the car-free artist island, Spetses with its dreamy anchorages, and the wild coasts of the eastern Peloponnese. Short day stages, countless sheltered coves and picturesque harbour towns with rustic tavernas right by the water – this trip is relaxed island sailing at its finest.
Jump from the swimming platform into crystal-clear water in the morning, sail with the thermal wind to the next bay in the afternoon, stroll through the car-free lanes of Hydra in the evening and enjoy fresh fish in a taverna overlooking the sea. We sail together, learn from each other and enjoy the freedom on the water.
Galini, our Hanse 575, is a true bluewater yacht – built for living and travelling on the sea. We travel with warm-hearted people, discover the world together and experience real boatlife: sun, wind, salt water, small adventures and the feeling of truly discovering something together as a crew. Galini calls the sea home and is usually far from her home port of Poros. You will be part of life on board. Things won't always go according to plan – sometimes something breaks or the weather changes our course – but that's what makes it real. We are also happy to show you the technical side of the boat, and you can join in all activities - navigating, steering, cooking, even technical tasks. This is not a cruise, but a living community, real experiences and the magic of the sea.
The Saronic and Argolic Gulfs are among the most relaxing and varied sailing areas in the entire Mediterranean. Sheltered by the Peloponnese, the Meltemi blows here much milder than in the open Aegean – typically 3–4 Beaufort, rarely more. The islands and coastal towns are close together, typical daily stages are only 5 to 20 nautical miles – there is always plenty of time for swimming, anchoring and enjoying. The area offers a fascinating mix of cosmopolitan harbour towns like Hydra and Spetses, lonely anchorages, ancient sites and the wild coastal landscape of the eastern Peloponnese. Since we start from and return to our home port of Poros, we know this area particularly well. From Poros you can quickly reach Piraeus by ferry and from there the international airport of Athens in about an hour – the journey is straightforward and easy to plan.
Our adventure begins on Saturday in Poros – our home port, which we know particularly well. After boarding, getting to know each other and a safety briefing, we head south. This trip is deliberately flexible: the distances between the islands and the coast are short, the possibilities are many – and where we sail, we decide together as a crew. Hydra, only about 10 nautical miles away, welcomes us with one of the most beautiful natural harbours in Greece – a car-free island where time seems to have stood still. The uninhabited island of Dokos offers lonely bays for anchoring, swimming and snorkelling in absolute silence. Further south are Ermioni and Spetses with their sheltered bays and fragrant pine forests right down to the water. From Porto Heli a side trip to Nafplio is possible – the first capital of Greece with its impressive fortress of Palamidi. Depending on the wind and the crew's mood, we sail further south along the Peloponnese coast or enjoy an extra swimming day in one of the countless bays. At the end of the week we return to Poros – a homecoming in the best sense. Which harbours and bays we exactly visit and how long we stay where is decided – as in real sailing – by the wind, the weather and the crew together.

Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, large and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and crosses the Atlantic in April/May.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multi-media, generator 220V/7KW (230V in all cabins), washing machine, air fryer and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, a watermaker, hydraulic bathing platform and a dinghy with outboard motor. An extensive safety and navigation equipment and much more – everything needed to be self-sufficient without having to call at a supply port. A yacht that meets the highest requirements for safety, design and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Vovo Ocean Racers and is the fastest yacht in its class. Sailing fun is guaranteed!
In August, high summer temperatures prevail (air: avg. 30–36°C, water: avg. 26–27°C). The Meltemi blows in the Saronic Gulf much milder than in the open Aegean – typically 3–4 Bft from north to northeast. Between Hydra, Spetses and the Argolic Gulf, a pleasant thermal wind from the southeast dominates, setting in at midday and dying down in the evening – ideal for relaxed sailing. Mornings are often windless, perfect for swimming stops and a leisurely start to the day. Rain is practically impossible in August – blazing sunshine and the special light of the Aegean are guaranteed.
Everyone can help with sailing if they want, even steer the boat at times, or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. In addition, everyone is collectively responsible for the crew's catering. This means that each person takes turns preparing breakfast or looking after dinner. Usually the hobby chefs on board quickly emerge, and those who are less into cooking simply stand back and wash up. When mooring and casting off, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after instruction from the skipper. The boat must be kept clean by the crew members during the trip. However, the final cleaning is done by the marina staff.
All crew members (except the skipper) pay a jointly agreed amount into the crew fund. From this fund, all common expenses during the trip are covered (e.g. diesel, harbour fees, deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service pack for provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in port, etc.). The skipper is fed by the crew during the trip according to old seafaring custom.
Berth charter is the best option for anyone wanting to get to know sailing life. No prior knowledge or sailing experience is necessary. But perhaps you have already gained sailing experience, done a sailing course and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try things out yourself and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the trip, and your wishes will be taken into account subject to safety and weather. On such a trip you meet like-minded people, can make new nice acquaintances and have an experienced skipper by your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The berths are allocated by the skipper taking crew wishes into account. Whole cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. You pay per person and don't have to worry about anything else.
We want to make sailing more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On GALINI we test various products that provide a great sailing experience while reducing the impact on the environment. At the same time, she is on a journey to explore the world. Her base is on Poros, Greece. But she is usually on a long voyage.
