In spring, conditions for North Atlantic passages are ideal: The route takes us from St. Maarten northwards to Bermuda; here there is an opportunity for a stopover, shore leave and technical check. Then we set a direct course for the Azores – true bluewater sailing on long legs, with navigation, night watches and shared shipboard routine. After provisioning and a shore excursion on the Azores, the next big jump follows to Lisbon, before the final leg along the coast to Málaga. The northern route is known for fresh westerly and northwesterly winds, ocean fauna and a unique sense of vastness.

Our adventure begins in spring on St. Maarten. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing and joint provisioning, we use the time to get to know the crew and prepare the vessel. Once everything is ready, we set sail towards Bermuda. Depending on weather and crew, we make a stopover in Hamilton – perfect for fresh supplies, shore excursions and a technical check. Afterwards we set course for the Azores, navigating through changing winds, keep watches, trim sails, observe the weather, cook together and grow as a crew. If possible, we enjoy shore excursions and European culture on the Azores and later in Lisbon. The voyage ends after the final leg on the Costa del Sol of Spain in the port of Málaga.

Step aboard a well-equipped, lovingly maintained boat and enjoy the special: With us there is nothing off the peg. Every trip is unique – sometimes spontaneous, sometimes planned, always full of surprises. Unplanned experiences are just as much a part of it as relaxed days on deck. Do you want more than just sailing along? We take care of technical matters and daily life on board together, you can get involved in all areas and become part of life at sea. Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, spacious and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and crosses the Atlantic in spring.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multi media, generator 220 V / 7 kW, (230 V in all cabins) washing machine, air fryer and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, a watermaker, hydraulic bathing platform and a tender with outboard motor. An abundance of safety and navigation equipment and much more, everything needed to be self-sufficient without having to call at a supply port. A yacht that meets the highest requirements for safety, design and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Volvo Ocean Racers and is the fastest yacht in its class. Fun sailing is guaranteed!
In spring, we can expect ideal conditions on the classic northern route:
Wind: Often from west to northwest, 4–6 Bft. (15–25 knots)
Air temperature: 18–25 °C during the day, cool at night
Water temperature: 18–23 °C
Atlantic: Long, gentle swell (1–3 m)
Weather: Mostly dry and clear, rain showers are rare and short
Everyone can, if they wish, help with sailing, also take the helm occasionally or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. Furthermore, everyone is jointly responsible for the culinary well-being of the crew. This means that each person takes turns preparing breakfast or looking after dinner. Usually, the hobby cooks on board quickly emerge, and those who are not so keen on the culinary arts simply hold back and wash up. During berthing and unberthing, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after briefing by the skipper. The boat is to be kept clean by the crew during the trip. However, the final cleaning is done by the marina staff.
All crew members (except the skipper) pay a jointly agreed amount into the kitty. From this kitty, all common expenses incurred during the trip (e.g. diesel, harbour fees, deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service pack for the provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in harbour, etc.) are covered. The skipper, according to old seafaring custom, is provisioned by the crew during the trip.
Cabin charter is the best option for anyone who wants to experience sailing life. No previous knowledge or own sailing experience is necessary. But perhaps you already have sailing experience, have completed sailing training and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try yourself and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the trip and their wishes will be taken into account, subject to safety and weather. On such a trip you meet like-minded people, can make nice new acquaintances and have an experienced skipper at your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The bunks are distributed by the skipper taking crew wishes into account. Whole cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. Payment is per person and you don't have to worry about anything else.
We want to make sailing more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On our GALINI we test innovative products to combine a great sailing experience with the smallest possible ecological footprint. Our small team of experienced skippers looks forward to experiencing real sailing adventures with you. Our base is on Poros, Greece – from there we explore the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world.
