The trip

Our Mediterranean adventure begins at the start of the season in Lisbon. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing and a communal provisioning run, we take the time to get to know the crew and prepare the yacht for the coastal passage. We first sail to Cascais, the elegant seaside resort at Lisbon's doorstep. From there, the route takes us south to the Algarve – with possible stops at Lagos with its famous rock formations or Faro with the unique Ria Formosa.

Portugal → Spain

In spring, conditions for North Atlantic crossings are ideal: The route takes us from St Maarten northwards to Bermuda; here there is the possibility of a stopover, shore leave and a technical check. Afterwards, we set a direct course for the Azores – true bluewater sailing on long legs, with navigation, night watches and a shared onboard routine. After provisioning and a shore excursion in the Azores, the next big jump takes us to Lisbon, before the final leg along the coast to Málaga. The northern route is known for fresh westerly and northwesterly winds, oceanic fauna and a unique sense of vastness.

Day by day

The route

Our adventure begins in spring on St Maarten. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing and a communal provisioning run, we take the time to get to know the crew and prepare the yacht. As soon as everything is ready, we set sail for Bermuda. Depending on the weather and crew, we make a stop in Hamilton – perfect for fresh provisions, shore leave and a technical check. After that, we set course for the Azores, navigating through varying winds, working in a watch system, trimming sails, observing the weather, cooking together and growing as a crew. When possible, we enjoy shore excursions and European culture in the Azores and later in Lisbon. The voyage ends after the final leg along Spain's Costa del Sol in the port of Málaga.

Our Galini travels the world – and you can be part of it! With us, you're not an anonymous guest on a standard route, but part of a real crew discovering new horizons together. We are not a classic charter company that runs the same tour every week. Instead, we sail together, experience real boatlife, and embrace the adventure the sea holds for us.

Step aboard a well-equipped, lovingly maintained yacht and enjoy the special: With us, there's nothing off the peg. Every trip is unique – sometimes spontaneous, sometimes planned, always full of surprises. Unplanned experiences are just as much a part of it as relaxing days on deck. Do you want more than just being a passenger? We take care of the technical and onboard routines together; you can get involved in all areas and become part of life at sea. Our trips combine holiday, experience, mindfulness and real boat life. Become part of our crew – authentic, communal and full of adventure!

She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multi media, generator 220V / 7kW, (230V in all cabins), washing machine, air fryer and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, a watermaker, hydraulic swim platform and a tender with outboard. An abundance of safety and navigation equipment and much more – everything needed to be self-sufficient without having to call at a supply port. FAQ

What tasks does the crew have?

Everyone can, if they wish, help with sailing, take the helm from time to time, or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. In addition, everyone is jointly responsible for the crew's welfare. This means that everyone takes turns preparing breakfast or dinner. Usually, the hobby chefs on board quickly emerge, and those who are not so keen on cooking simply step back and do the washing up. When berthing and unberthing, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after instruction from the skipper. The boat is kept clean by the crew during the trip. However, the final cleaning is done by the marina staff.

What does crew kitty actually mean?

All crew members (except the skipper) pay a jointly agreed amount into the crew kitty. This kitty covers all common costs incurred during the trip (e.g. diesel, harbour fees, security deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service pack for provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in port, etc.). According to old seafaring tradition, the skipper is provisioned by the crew during the trip.

What does berth charter mean?

Berth charter is the best opportunity for everyone who wants to get to know sailing life. Previous experience or own sailing knowledge is not necessary. Perhaps you already have sailing experience or have completed sailing training and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try yourself out and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the trip and their wishes will be taken into account, subject to safety and weather. On such a trip you meet like-minded people, can make new pleasant acquaintances and have an experienced skipper at your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The berths are allocated by the skipper taking crew wishes into account. Whole cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. Payment is per person and you don't have to worry about anything else.
