The trip

Our Mediterranean adventure begins at the start of the season in Lisbon. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing, and a joint provisioning run, we take time to get to know the crew and prepare the boat for the coastal passage. We first sail to Cascais, the elegant seaside resort just outside Lisbon. From there, the route leads south to the Algarve – with possible stops at Lagos with its famous rock formations, or Faro with the unique Ria Formosa.

In spring, conditions for North Atlantic passages are ideal: The route takes us from St. Maarten northwards to Bermuda; here there is an opportunity for a stopover, shore leave and a systems check. Afterwards, we set a direct course for the Azores – real bluewater sailing on long legs, with navigation, night watches and shared shipboard routine. After provisioning and a land excursion in the Azores, the next big jump follows to Lisbon, before the final leg along the coast to Málaga. The northern route is known for fresh westerly and north-westerly winds, ocean fauna and a unique sense of vastness.

Day by day

The route

Our adventure begins in spring on St. Maarten. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing, and a joint provisioning run, we take time to get to know the crew and prepare the boat. Once everything is ready, we set sail for Bermuda. Depending on the weather and crew, we make a stopover in Hamilton – perfect for fresh provisions, shore leave and a systems check. Afterwards, we set course for the Azores, navigating through shifting winds, working in watch system, trimming sails, monitoring weather, cooking together and growing as a crew. When possible, we enjoy shore leave and European culture on the Azores and later in Lisbon. The voyage ends after the final leg on the Spanish Costa del Sol in Malaga harbour.

Our Galini travels the world – and you can be part of it! With us, you are not an anonymous guest on a standard route, but part of a real crew that discovers new horizons together. We are not a classic charter company that runs the same trip every week. Instead, we sail together, experience real boat life and embrace the adventure that the sea has in store for us.

Step aboard a well-equipped, lovingly maintained boat and enjoy the extraordinary: with us, nothing is off the shelf. Every passage is unique – sometimes spontaneous, sometimes planned, always full of surprises. Unplanned experiences are just as much a part of it as relaxed days on deck. You want more than just sailing along? Together we take care of the boat's systems, and you can get involved in all areas and become part of life at sea. Our passages combine holiday, experience, mindfulness and real boat life. Become part of our crew – authentic, communal and full of adventurous spirit!

FAQ

What tasks does the crew have?

Anyone can, if they wish, help with sailing, even take the helm from time to time or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. In addition, everyone is jointly responsible for the well-being of the crew. This means that each person takes turns preparing breakfast or looking after dinner. Usually the hobby cooks on board quickly emerge, and those not so keen on culinary arts simply stand back and wash up. When docking and undocking, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after instruction from the skipper. The boat is to be kept clean by the crew members during the passage. The end cleaning is done by the marina staff.

What does 'crew fund' actually mean?

All crew members (except the skipper) pay an agreed amount into the crew fund. During the passage, all common costs (e.g. diesel, harbour fees, deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service pack for provided bed linen, end cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in port, etc.) are taken from this fund. Following traditional seafaring custom, the skipper is provided with meals by the crew during the passage.

What does 'berth charter' mean?

Berth charter is the best option for anyone wanting to experience the sailing life. Prior knowledge or own sailing experience is not necessary. But perhaps you already have some sailing experience, have completed a sailing course and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try things out for yourself and help you gain future confidence. The crew can shape the course of the passage and their wishes will be taken into account, subject to safety and weather. On such a passage you meet like-minded people, can make new pleasant acquaintances and have an experienced skipper at your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The berths are allocated by the skipper taking into account crew preferences. Entire cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. Payment is per person and you don't have to worry about anything else.
