This mile passage is perfect for sailors looking to expand their ocean-sailing experience. We sail approximately 900 nautical miles, offering both relaxed times to enjoy the Atlantic atmosphere and active sailing periods where you can deepen your knowledge. This passage is suitable for sailors with basic skills – beginners are welcome after consultation.
In spring, conditions for North Atlantic passages are ideal: the route takes us from St. Maarten northwards to Bermuda; here there is an opportunity for a stopover, shore leave and a technical check. Afterwards we set a direct course for the Azores – true bluewater sailing on long legs, with navigation, night watches and shared onboard routine. After provisioning and a shore excursion on the Azores, the next big jump follows to Lisbon, before the final leg along the coast leads to Málaga. The northern route is known for fresh westerly and northwesterly winds, ocean fauna and a unique sense of vastness.

Our adventure begins in spring on St. Maarten. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing and provisioning together, we take time to get to know the crew and prepare the vessel. Once everything is ready, we set sail towards Bermuda. Depending on weather and crew, we make a stopover in Hamilton – perfect for fresh supplies, shore leave and a technical check. Afterwards we set course for the Azores, navigating through varying winds, standing watch in a system, trimming sails, observing the weather, cooking together and growing as a crew. If possible, we enjoy shore leave and European culture on the Azores and later in Lisbon. The journey ends after the final leg on Spain's sunny coast in the port of Málaga.
Our Galini travels the world – and you can be part of it! With us, you are not an anonymous guest on a standard route, but part of a real crew that discovers new horizons together. We are not a classic charter company that runs the same itinerary every week. Instead, we sail together, experience real boat life and embrace the adventure the sea has in store for us.
Step aboard a well-equipped, lovingly maintained boat and enjoy something special: with us, nothing is off the peg. Every passage is unique – sometimes spontaneous, sometimes planned, always full of surprises. Unplanned experiences are just as much a part of it as relaxing days on deck. You want more than just to sail along? Together we take care of the technical side and daily life on board; you can get involved in all areas and become part of life at sea. Our passages combine holiday, experience, mindfulness and real boat life. Become part of our crew – authentic, communal and full of adventure spirit!

Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, large and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and will cross the Atlantic in spring.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multi media, generator 220 V / 7 kW, (230 V in all cabins), washing machine, air fryer and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, a watermaker, hydraulic bathing platform and a tender with outboard engine. She is superbly equipped with safety and navigation gear and much more – everything needed to be self-sufficient without having to call at a supply port. A yacht that meets the highest standards of safety, design and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Volvo Ocean Racers, and she is the fastest yacht in her class. Joy of sailing is guaranteed!
In spring, ideal conditions await us on the classic northern route:
Wind: Often from west to northwest, 4–6 Bft. (15–25 knots)
Air temperature: 18–25°C during the day, cool at night
Water temperature: 18–23°C
Atlantic: Long, moderate swell (1–3m)
Weather: Mostly dry and clear, rain showers are rare and short
Everyone can, if they wish, help with sailing, occasionally take the helm or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. In addition, everyone is jointly responsible for the crew's meals. That means everyone takes turns preparing breakfast or dinner. Usually, the hobby chefs on board quickly emerge, and those not so keen on cooking simply stand back and do the dishes. When berthing or unberthing, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after being briefed by the skipper. The boat must be kept clean by the crew members during the passage. However, the final cleaning is done by the marina staff.
All crew members (except the skipper) pay an agreed amount into the crew fund. This fund covers all joint costs incurred during the passage (e.g., diesel, harbour fees, security deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service pack for the provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in port, etc.). According to old seafaring tradition, the skipper is fed by the crew during the passage.
Berth charter is the best option for anyone who wants to get to know sailing life. No prior knowledge or own sailing experience is necessary. But perhaps you have already gained some sailing experience, completed sailing training and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try yourself and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the passage and their wishes will be heard, subject to safety and weather. On such a passage, you meet like-minded people, can make nice new acquaintances and have an experienced skipper at your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The berths are allocated by the skipper taking crew wishes into consideration. Whole cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. Payment is per person and you don't have to worry about anything else.
We want to make sailing more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On our GALINI we test innovative products to combine a great sailing experience with the smallest possible ecological footprint. Our small team of experienced skippers looks forward to experiencing real sailing adventures with you. Our base is on Poros, Greece – from there we explore the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world.
