This passage is perfect for sailors looking to expand their ocean sailing experience. We sail approximately 900 nautical miles, offering both relaxed times to enjoy the Atlantic atmosphere and active sailing periods where you can deepen your knowledge. The passage is suitable for sailors with basic knowledge – beginners are welcome by arrangement.
In spring, conditions for North Atlantic passages are ideal: The route takes us from St. Maarten northwards to Bermuda; here there is an opportunity for a stopover, shore leave and technical check. Afterwards, we set a direct course for the Azores – true bluewater sailing on long legs, with navigation, night watches and shared onboard routine. After provisioning and a shore excursion on the Azores, the next big jump to Lisbon follows, before the final leg along the coast to Málaga. The northern route is known for fresh westerly and north-westerly winds, ocean fauna and a unique sense of vastness.

Our adventure begins in spring on St. Maarten. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing and communal provisioning, we use the time to get to know the crew and prepare the boat. As soon as everything is ready, we set sail for Bermuda. Depending on weather and crew, we make a stopover in Hamilton – perfect for fresh supplies, shore leave and a technical check. After that we set course for the Azores, navigate through shifting winds, work in a watch system, trim sails, monitor weather, cook together and grow as a crew. Whenever possible, we enjoy shore leave and European culture on the Azores and later in Lisbon. The voyage ends after the final leg on Spain's Costa del Sol in the port of Málaga.

Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, large and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and crosses the Atlantic in spring.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with 4 double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multi-media, generator 220 V / 7 kW, (230 V in all cabins), washing machine, air fryer and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, a watermaker, hydraulic swim platform and a dinghy with outboard engine. An abundance of safety and navigation equipment and much more, everything needed to be self-sufficient without having to call at a supply port. A yacht that meets the highest standards of safety, design and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Vovo Ocean Racers and is the fastest yacht in its class. Sailing enjoyment is guaranteed!
In spring, ideal conditions await us on the classic northern route:
Wind: Often from west to north-west, 4–6 Bft. (15–25 knots)
Air temperature: 18–25 °C during the day, cool at night
Water temperature: 18–23 °C
Atlantic: Long, gentle swell (1–3 m)
Weather: Mostly dry and clear, rain showers are rare and brief
Anyone can help with sailing if they wish, even take the helm or simply enjoy the beautiful nature and the day. In addition, everyone is jointly responsible for the crew's sustenance. This means that everyone takes turns preparing breakfast or looking after dinner. Usually, the hobby chefs on board quickly emerge, and those less into cooking simply stand back and do the washing up. During mooring and unmooring, everyone generally lends a hand according to their abilities and after briefing by the skipper. The boat must be kept clean by the crew during the passage. However, the final cleaning is done by the marina staff.
All crew members (except the skipper) pay an agreed amount into the crew fund. This fund covers all common costs incurred during the passage (e.g. diesel, harbour fees, deposit insurance, transit log, tourist tax, national and nature park fees, service pack for provided bed linen, final cleaning, gas, marina fee for the first and last night in port, etc.). According to old seafaring tradition, the skipper is provided with meals by the crew during the passage.
Berth charter is the best option for anyone wanting to get to know sailing life. Prior knowledge or your own sailing experience is not necessary. But perhaps you have already gained sailing experience, completed sailing training and want to deepen it? – Then the skipper will give you the opportunity to try yourself and help you gain future confidence. The crew can help shape the course of the passage and your wishes will be taken into account, subject to safety and weather. On such a passage you meet like-minded people, can make new nice acquaintances and have an experienced skipper by your side who takes care of all nautical matters. The cabins on the yacht are usually equipped with different but very similar cabins. The bunks are allocated by the skipper considering crew preferences. Whole cabins can be chartered by individuals, couples or families. You pay per person and don't need to worry about anything else.
We aim to make sailing more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On our GALINI we test innovative products to combine a great sailing experience with the smallest possible ecological footprint. Our small team of experienced skippers looks forward to experiencing true sailing adventures with you. Our base is on Poros, Greece – from there we explore the most beautiful cruising areas in the world.
